I actually finished the book I was reading last night before I had my dinner so I am starting this week reading something new. I have decided to read Forbidden by, as I have heard only good things about this book. It is meant to be one that really pulls at the heart strings, which is exactly the type of book I want to read at the moment; I don’t know why I just do.
What I read last week
So I began my week deciding to finally read Looking my Alaska by John Green, as I had started to read it physically years ago but for some reason – not because I didn’t enjoy it – put it down and read something else. However I decided to read the audiobook, and I found I enjoyed it. I liked how it focused on how you never no what may happen and that death is inevitable it’s going to happen to us all it’s just how you spend the time before that that counts. I gave this book 3.7/5 stars.
I then finally went and picked up Percy Jackyson and the Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan. I had watched the film when I was younger, but the book was so much better as it was so much more developed and so much more detailed. I absolutely loved it, and had to refrain myself from searching out the audiobook for book 2 – as I want to read it physically when I can read again. Although the man who does the voice for the audiobook was amazing so I may end up listening to it instead. I have a book review here on my blog if you want to go and check it out and see my in depth thoughts and feelings on this book. I gave it 5/5 stars.
I then went back and listened to the audiobook for Britt-Marie was Here by Fredrik Backman, which I have to say I didn’t enjoy very much. It was very slow, and nothing really happened in it and when it did it was very flat and not like ‘bam this has just happened’ it was more like ‘oh well um yes this just happened…… I um think’. That probably makes no sense at all – but it’s what I thought of it. It was very heavy character driven, and I do like books like that just not this one. I gave it 2/5 stars.
I finished it everybody!! I finally finished The Diviners by Libba Bray, and oh wow did I enjoy it. It is such a cleverly written book which has multiple points of view that all link together. It has the context of the time of the setting, which mixes in with the beautifully crafted story and plot of the book. I would highly recommend you pick this book up. It was on my TBR for so long – and left me questioning why I hadn’t picked it up sooner. I gave it 5/5 stars.
I then read The Mirror and The Maze by Renée Ahdiehwhich, I gave it 4/5 stars.
Last but not least – I finished the week having finished Blood Red Road by Moira Young, this being a re-read. I enjoyed it more the second time around and so gave it 4.5/5 stars. Whereas last time I read it I gave it 4/5 – but standards of books as raised since then so that 4 actually equivalents to a 3/5.
Blog posts from last week
So I know I haven’t posted a blog post since Friday but I decided to this weekend and off as my mum as has gone away and so I was having a father and daughter weekend with my dad; doing fun bits and bobs with him and spending time with him. I am person who loves her family, and thinks family is very important; however I know I have been blessed with amazing parents that love, care and support me through anything and everything.
If you live in the UK then for you it was Mother’s Day yesterday – therefore I hope you had a wonderful day spent with your mother, daughter/s or loved ones. If you are a mother I hope your children spoilt you and bought you some wonderful treats – if you are what did you do and what did you get?
In terms of my recovery since my accident – I am slowly getting better. My walking is getting and more normal everyday, so fingers crossed we on the way up being back to normal soon.
